RouteSmart is a software system designed to provide solutions to routingand scheduling problems in a GIS environment. It has been applied to suchdiverse problems as solid waste collection, utility meter reading, streetsweeping, and the delivery of newspapers, telephone books, and mail.Ideally suited for applications where realistic routes and schedules arerequired over a street network, RouteSmart not only minimizesnonproductive work time and overtime it also generates well balancedworkloads and enhances resource planning -- all in a user friendlyenvironment. Modules are available for a variety of computer operatingsystems including the DOS, VMS, and UNIX environments.
